Biography
Dr. Duygu Sezen is a radiation oncology specialist at Koç University Hospital in İstanbul, where she has been practicing since 2014. She completed her radiation oncology residency at Hacettepe University School of Medicine in Ankara — one of Turkey's top-ranked medical programs and a leading center for radiation oncology training. Her residency provided a strong foundation in modern radiotherapy techniques, treatment planning, and the management of a wide range of malignancies.
To further expand her expertise, Dr. Sezen undertook observerships at two world-renowned cancer centers: the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston (USA) and St James's University Hospital in Leeds (UK). These international experiences exposed her to cutting-edge approaches in stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT), image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT), and advanced treatment planning systems, which she has since integrated into her daily practice at Koç University Hospital.
At Koç University Hospital, Dr. Sezen works within a multidisciplinary oncology team, collaborating closely with medical oncologists, surgical oncologists, and other specialists to deliver precision radiotherapy across multiple tumor sites including lung, brain, prostate, and gastrointestinal cancers. She stays up to date with the latest advancements in radiotherapy technology, ensuring her patients benefit from the most current and effective treatment techniques available.

Areas of Expertise
SBRT (Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy)
High-precision, high-dose radiation delivered in a small number of fractions, used for early-stage lung cancer, liver metastases, spine tumors, and other localized malignancies where surgical options may be limited.
IGRT (Image-Guided Radiation Therapy)
Use of real-time imaging during radiation sessions to ensure the treatment beam targets the tumor with maximum accuracy, minimizing exposure to surrounding healthy tissues.
Precision Radiotherapy Planning
Advanced treatment planning using state-of-the-art systems to optimize dose distribution, conformality, and organ-at-risk sparing for each individual patient.
Multiple Tumor Sites
Experience in radiotherapy for a wide range of tumor locations including lung, brain, prostate, and gastrointestinal cancers, with treatment approaches adapted to each site's unique anatomy and biology.
Approach to Patient Care
Dr. Sezen takes a precision-first approach to radiation therapy, using image-guided techniques to ensure every treatment session delivers radiation exactly where it is needed while sparing healthy tissue. She collaborates closely with medical oncology and surgical colleagues at Koç University Hospital, ensuring that radiation therapy is integrated seamlessly into each patient's comprehensive treatment plan through the multidisciplinary tumor board.
She stays current with the latest radiotherapy technologies and protocols, drawing on the knowledge gained during her international observerships at MD Anderson and Leeds. For international patients, Koç University Hospital provides full care-coordination and language support services.
