Plastic Surgery
Dr. Murat Pençe
Head of the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at VKV American Hospital in İstanbul since 1995 — three decades leading the same unit. He completed residencies in both general surgery and plastic surgery at Hacettepe University, a double training that is now uncommon.
Biography
Dr. Murat Pençe has led the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at VKV American Hospital in İstanbul since 1995. He qualified in medicine at İstanbul University's Cerrahpaşa School of Medicine in 1982.
He completed a general surgery residency at Hacettepe University in 1989 and a second residency in plastic surgery at the same institution in 1994, then worked as an attending physician at the ONEP Plastic Surgery Center before taking up the headship at the American Hospital. Beginning in general surgery gives a plastic surgeon a broader operative grounding — useful in reconstruction and in complex body-contouring cases.
